308: From 40 Hours a Week to 40 Hours a Month: How Tana Replaced Her Income Working from Home

EPISODE 308 SHOW NOTES

Hey guys! Happy Monday! Today, I’m chatting with Tana Goosic, who transitioned from working 40 hours a week to working just 40 hours a month—all while replacing her income and working from home with her babies.

In this episode, Tana walks us through how she got started freelancing. She initially tested the waters with a project-based client. That client put a little bit of extra cash in her pocket ($800 to be exact) and more importantly, gave her the experience and confidence she ended to take the leap into fully pursuing freelancing. In November, she handed in her resignation at her daycare job, spent December focusing on her family and completing the course, and by January, she had landed a single retainer client that replaced her full-time income—all while working from home.

Tana also discusses how she found her niche. Early on, she took on any and all jobs but eventually narrowed her focus to work with people in the early childhood field—an industry she’s passionate about and knows well. She explains how she lands clients through the OTO job board, direct outreach, and referrals.

With baby number three on the way, Tana also shares her plan for managing maternity leave while freelancing. And actually, this is Tana’s first rodeo–she successfully navigated maternity leave while freelancing a couple of years ago shortly after landing her first big retainer client.

Tana now balances one big retainer client with several monthly project clients, giving her the flexibility to work from home, spend time with her kids, and still make a solid income. This is an episode you don’t want to miss!
