Three Tips for Managing Multiple Clients as a Freelancer

296: Three Tips for Managing Multiple Clients as a Freelancer

EPISODE 296 SHOW NOTES

Hey there! Can you believe it’s mid-July already? With the back-to-school hiring boom for freelancers just around the corner, I wanted to share three tips for managing multiple clients as a freelancer.

And, if you’re just checking freelancing out and dreaming of staying home with your kids while still making an income, you’re in the right place. Now is the perfect time to start laying the foundation for your freelance business, so you can be ready to land clients by August or September. The Live Free Academy is the shortcut route to go from not really knowing what freelancing is or how to start to working with paying with clients in less than 30 days. Enroll at go.micalaquinn.com/academy!

Now let’s go ahead, dive in, and explore three tips for managing multiple clients as a freelancer:

1. Plan out how many hours you want to work each week.

This number can change, but first, you need to look at your typical week and set aside some time for client work. When can you get client work done? When do you want to work? When I got started, I was working full time as a teacher. I decided that I could work before school, in the evenings, and a little bit on the weekends. When starting, you might juggle freelancing alongside a full-time job and that is no easy task. Just remember that it’s temporary and will eventually lead to more freedom and flexibility.

2. Keep track of how many hours each client takes up of your time.

Determine whether you’ll charge hourly or offer project-based packages. (We cover all of this in LFA!) Track the time each client takes to ensure you can meet their needs without overloading yourself.

3. Onboard one client at a time.

This will help you get into a good groove with your clients, start a strong working relationship, and protect your sanity.

More about the Live Free Podcast with Micala Quinn:

How do I get started? What if I fail? Who will hire me? Is it really possible to create a consistent, full-time income from home?

Welcome to the Live Free Podcast with Micala Quinn where we will be answering these questions PLUS many more! Whether you’re just starting your freelance business (heck even if you don’t know what freelancing is yet) or you’re looking to scale, this podcast will give you tangible business advice along with inspiring interviews to help you create a life and career that works for YOU and YOUR family.

Your host, Micala Quinn, started out teaching high-school English, but when her first child was born, she immediately began searching for something more. She wanted a way to stay-at-home with her daughter (and future babies), but still needed to bring in a full-time income to help support her family. Micala started freelancing, quickly replaced her full-time income, and now helps other moms (like you) get started and grow their freelance business from scratch to 5K and beyond! She believes that being a working mom or a stay-at-home mom no longer needs to be a black and white decision. You CAN have both. On your terms!

Our motto is Mom Strong, Work Smart, and Live Free. Are you in? We’d love for you to join us each Monday, as well as in our Live Free Podcast Facebook community!
